Speaking on rebooting of the US civic national narrative, Newport, R.I., July 17

I’ll be speaking on the results of Nationhood Lab’s ongoing work to develop a rebooted civic national narrative for the United States — and the reasons why that is so essential to the survival of our democracy — at a public event at Salve Regina University at 6:30 on the evening of July 17. The talk, “A Story to Save America,” is co-sponsored by the Rhode Island Center for the Book and is part of the university’s Seaside Chats series.
It kicks off on the lawn south of Ochre Court, the seaside mansion housing university’s central administration building, at 6:30. Bring your own chair or blanket. Free and open to the public.
COLIN WOODARD is a New York Times bestselling author, historian and award-winning journalist. He is the author of seven books that have been translated into a dozen foreign languages and inspired an NBC television drama. He is currently Director of Nationhood Lab at the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Affairs at Salve Regina University. As State and National Affairs Writer at Maine's Portland Press Herald, he won a 2012 George Polk Award and was a finalist for a 2016 Pulitzer Prize. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Politico, The Economist, Smithsonian and dozens of other major publications.
