Speaking on Nations Apart and the fight over the U.S. national narrative, Salem, Massachusetts., April 16

The Salem Athenaeum has invited me to speak on the fight over the American national story, George Bancroft’s role therein, and the implications for today on April 16 at 7pm. Tickets are $25, $20 for museum members, and free for students with ID.
This will be the annual Adams Lecture, which is devoted to topics pertaining to American history with a focus on New England. Past speakers include David Hackett Fisher, Nathaniel Philbrick, Gordon Wood, and David Blight.

COLIN WOODARD is a New York Times bestselling author, historian and award-winning journalist. He is the author of seven books that have been translated into a dozen foreign languages and inspired an NBC television drama. He is currently Director of Nationhood Lab at the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Affairs at Salve Regina University.
