Have you ever wishes you could hear Dr. Lilliana Mason, Dr. Joshua Greene and myself converse on the underlying causes of our tribe-like polarization and what can be done about it? Sure you have. And now, courtesy of the WBUR 90.9 FM Festival, your dreams have come true.
Join us in Boston — at a Festival also featuring lesser-known figures like Rahm Emanuel, Samantha Power, Celeste Ng, José Andrés, John Bolton, Raj Chetty, and Martin Baron — for the May 29 panel entitled “Blue, Red, and What’s Left Unsaid in a Polarized America.”
Mason is a professor of political science at Johns Hopkins University’s Agora Institute, is one of the leading experts on affective polarization (the kind that pits your in-group against members of the (hated) out-group. Greene is psychologist, neuroscientist and philosopher at Harvard University, where he’s the is the Alfred and Rebecca Lin Professor of Civil Discourse and a member of the Center for Brain Science. He’s got an individual-level approach to reducing polarization and, yes, it involves playing a game on an app!
