Talking pirates with Julian Dorey

I recently popped down to very New Netherlandish Hoboken, New Jersey to record a podcast on pirates with Julian Dorsey for his eponymous show. We had a lively and enjoyable discussion about the granddaddy of them all, Henry Avery, and the pirate gang he inspired, a tale I researched for my history, The Republic of Pirates. Along the way we even got into the collapse of the Berlin Wall, the realities of 18th century sailing vessels, and how the U.S. is divided into multiple regional cultures.

The result is up over at YouTube and wherever you find your podcasts. It’s Episode 212, “The Deadliest Pirate Manhunt in History.” Enjoy!
